THE CHURCH of the GOLDEN LIGHT NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2018

Dear Members and Friends
Christmas Greetings To You All

This has been another busy and successful year for the Golden Light. Our congregation numbers have remained consistent. And following each service the majority of our congregations stay behind and enjoy our afternoon teas and a chat – a special thanks to all the wonderful Church members and friends who provide the yummy food, prepare the afternoon teas and clean up afterwards.

As usual we held our special Church Anniversary service in April – we were 87 years old on the 4th April. It is important to remember our forefathers and all that they did for the Church so this service gives us an opportunity to acknowledge them. And at the end of April we celebrated ANZAC with a special service.

On the 20th of May following our service 2 Church members Marcio Freitas and Daiane Coraleski were married. Both from Brazil they had a Ceremony in Brazil for their family and friends in April and following their return to Auckland, the legal Ceremony was held in our Church. All members and friends were invited to the Ceremony which was followed by a beautiful reception in our Social Hall

At the end of July we had our annual fund-raising event for the year with our highly successful annual `Meet The Mediums` with Mediums Hettie Mentzer, Clinton Arnold and Kay Moore. The afternoon concluded with our usual stunning afternoon tea.

In August and September we collected canned food for distribution to the Auckland City Mission – eight boxes were subsequently delivered. And currently we have a beautiful Christmas tree in the Church with toys underneath – these will be distributed to the Auckland City Mission following our last service.

In late September our annual Animal Service was held, and while not as many animals were present this year the message was love and care for our animals.

Sadly last Sunday 25th November we farewelled Jan Walker who is moving north The Church made a presentation to Jan during the service and following that we all enjoyed a special afternoon tea with Jan. Robyn Message has accepted our invitation to join the Friends of the Golden Light.
